Thurman (T.R.) Davis is the sixth of ten children born to the late Rev. Walter L and Mrs. Dora V. Williams-Davis. He is a 1966 graduate of the John R. Hawkins High School of Warrenton NC. He served three years united the United States Army (1967-70). He spent nineteen months in the Republic of Vietnam.
Upon returning home, he married the former Barbara Edwards, the daughter of the late Rev. Wendell and Mrs. Beaufort M. Edwards. To this union were born two daughters and one son. One daughter is deceased due to a tragic automobile accident in January, 2006. He is also the father of Talbot McIver.
Pastor Davis was miraculously saved by grace and through faith on May 27th 1981, a few minutes after eight in the morning. Pastor Davis preached his initial sermon on the first Sunday in November 1981 at the First Baptist Church, West Ave, in Hamlet NC. He was called to pastor the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church on the second Sunday in February 1984. Seven years later, Pastor Davis was called to pastor the Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC. He remained as pastor until January 17th. 2023. Pastor Davis s a graduate of the Shaw Divinity School, Raleigh, NC; he attended Carolina Bible College of Fayetteville NC; and is a graduate with both a Bachelor and a Masters degree in biblical studies from Covington Theological Seminary, Rossville Ga.
